THE CLOSE BUTTON THAT STAYS

Unskippable

A red pixel close button with googly eyes clinging to the corner of a window while a cursor approaches

Every click counts. None of them count.

Another Attempt

Unskippable works the upper-right corner, where optimism goes to waste. The pointer arrives with purpose. The red square watches it approach, accepts the click, and remains exactly where it was. Somewhere, a tiny close sound plays out of professional courtesy. Nothing closes. The pointer backs up, circles once, and tries again with the confidence of someone who has learned absolutely nothing.

Operating Habits

At the click-testing bench, the close button keeps three habits. It is still here because none involve leaving.

  • Perfect Attendance

Has never missed a pop-up, warning, interruption, or completely reasonable request to disappear.

  • Pointer Training

Lets every cursor practice the same doomed little approach.

  • Close Enough

Performs the sound. Declines the consequence. Returns to position.
